Fall 2017 Marketing Internship/Co-op


This position is for a Marketing Intern/Co-op student  in the office of Flenker Land Architecture Consultants, LLC (FLAC),which is located approximately 20 minutes north of the Quad Cities (Davenport, Iowa).   Flenker Land Architecture Consultants, LLC is a professional planning and design firm that works with both public and private sector clients primarily in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.  This is a part-time, paid position. Starting in early to mid September, completing in late November 2017. Expected work schedule is 8 - 16 hours per week.   We will consider hours best-suited to our business needs and the candidates.  

The Marketing Intern/Co-op student will work closely with the business owner, and will gain experience in preparing and writing proposals, marketing material, electronic and print communications, as well as developing a project database.. Additional efforts will include developing and proofing professional materials for both viral and written materials. You can expect to work in a casual, but professional atmosphere. 

The successful applicant will provide knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps that vary in nature and sequence.

Compensation & Travel

Salary: Hourly, with hourly wage rate to commensurate with
             experience; no benefits.
Work Schedule::: This is a  part time position with an expected
​             work schedule of  8 to 16 hours per week.  Hours will be
​             as best suited to our business needs and the
​             candidates.
Travel: Occasional local travel may be required. Overnight stays
             are not anticipated.
Start Date: Early to Mid September 2017
​End Date: Late November 2017

Education Requirements

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in marketing for a professional service firm
                                          OR
  • Within 18 months of graduating with a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Marketing, or closely related field. 

Position Requirements

  • Have permanent right to work in United States.                  
  • Have own vehicle and provide own transportation to and from work.
  • Arrange for and provide own housing. 
  • Acceptable driving record with a valid driver's license;
  • Drug and tobacco free.                                                             
  • Strong communication, leadership, and technical skills;             
  • Self-motivated and able to take directions and follow verbal and written instructions as well as retain information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on project such as at a computer screen or for detailed paperwork.

Position Responsibilities Include

  • Prepare proposals, marketing material, electronic and print communications;
  • Develop a project database;
  • Create and proof professional materials for both viral and written mediums;
  • Help manage document control including: filing; scanning and archiving;

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of and skill in:
    • the proficient use of Adobe InDesign, and MS Office Suite computer programs;
    • applying rules of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
    • performing administrative and technical tasks;
    • applying basic marketing principles.
  • Knowledge of and some skill and experience in creating data bases a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer.
  • Ability to:
    • work independently  following written or verbal instructions that are general in nature;
    • accomplish tasks with minimal supervision;
    • organize, compile,  record  information accurately;
    • manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated abilities/experience in:
    • Preparing, proofing and editing written copy;
    • Strong and accurate data entry

Working Conditions

  • Small office environment;
  • Standard office work hours are:
    ​        Monday-Thursday: 8:00 am - 5:00
    ​        Friday: 8:00 am - Noon
